Great bible - Bad seller

Love the bible. We got it for our daughter's 13th birthday. We think the commentaries are perfect for what we were looking for in a student bible.
The seller however was awful. I wish we could rate the product and seller separately. If we could, the bible would get 5 stars & the seller would get 1, hence the 3 star rating we went with. The cost of shipping was quite high and the packaging was very low quality. They just wrapped the bible in a paper similar to a paper grocery bag and taped the seams. When we received it, 3 of the corners had busted through and damaged the bible edges. Other than damage from shipping, the bible was dirty all over, the front has a bad scuff mark denting into the cover and the seam upon opening the bible was broken. It looks like this bible was just sitting on someone's shelf and had been used many times over the years. Certainly not brand new condition as was stated. Couldn't be more dissatisfied with this seller.

This is an excellent bible for those students who are serious about reading and learning the bible. It is for that age between 12 and 17. I really helps them to understand. I had four children and they all had one and it made a hugh difference in their understanding what they read. Now I am purchasing them for my grandchildren.

The increased confidence, peace, and pleasure I experience in my life now are a direct result of getting my head out of the way and doing the practices in this book on a regular basis. I don't feel at odds with or in uncertainty with my femininity anymore, as I'm in more understanding of it and honoring of it as I experience its wisdom and safety.

Rachael Jayne Groover has a huge gift to share with women - her experience transformed into wisdom consciously and compassionately woven into the pages of her book showing women how they can be Powerful AND Feminine. This book will help you to embrace and more fully embody your femininity; it will support you to honour, accept, and BE the power that is inherent in that. For those of you who tend to read books, put them down, and move on to the next without applying what you've learned, there are no excuses here. Rachael Jayne has included over 30 exercises that can be practiced pretty much anywhere you are. I love that I can be standing in line at the grocery store, walking down the sidewalk running errands downtown, or sitting at my desk doing work, and when I bring my awareness to the exercises in chapter 5 (or any other chapter for that matter) I experience myself and the world around me in a brand new and more joy-filled way. Now that's Powerful AND Feminine.

I knew I had to have Rachael Jayne Groover on my radio show "Creative Soul Cafe" when I read this book. Rachael Jayne Groover creates a strong case for women of today really 'being' in their 'feminine power'. Since the 1960's we have tended to express ourselves through our masculine selves rather than our feminine. Is it any wonder we have struggled to find our feminine ever since?
What is great about this book is that it has all the tools and exercises to take us from the disconnect of our feminine into being the juicy, creative, sensual and sexy feminine creatures we were meant to be. About the Author
Philippe Desfray is the Co-founder of and Vice President of R&D at Softeam. Internationally renowned expert and author of several books on modeling, Philippe is a contributing member of the OMG, where he participates in the elaboration of a number of standards, notably UML and BPMN. He has been involved in model driven development research, standardization, and tooling for nearly two decades.

Gilbert Raymond is a Senior Consultant and head of Softeam’s Information System and Methods division. Gilbert is an expert in Information Systems and BPM, and is TOGAF 9-certified.

TOGAF is the de facto standard for Architectural work. This is a good book. It covers vast area from a pragmatic perspective. I read this book on Safari Books Online.

Poorly written

This is poorly written book. The authors have done a bad job with both TOGAF and UML. I purchased it mainly to study how to use UML for creating TOGAF artifacts. I am disappointed to see how many non-UML notations have been used in the examples in the book. As an Enterprise Architect and Data Modeler I discourage people from using non-standard notations on the diagrams. The whole point for creating Enterprise Architecture is to bring standardization in the way an organization communicates about is present and future.

I recommend that these authors study UML and then revise this book thoroughly.

Intellectual muscle as a means of survival

Don McGowan is becoming the eminence grise of Intellectual Muscle movement while remaining its enfant terrible -still capable of confounding his audience with new twists and turns in his work.

McGowan's work has always been analytical, but in recent years his work morphed from the analysis of Jung toward the psychological, specifically Freudian, kind. For some time now, he has recycled the texts of Jung into muscular pieces that resemble sculpted post modern works that often boggle the mind and eye.

The strength of McGowan's work resides in his ability to compress radical and imense ideas into puny pieces of magma, one that the viewer wants to hold, yet cannot due to weight and temperature considerations.

Against all odds, McGowan's journey concludes with seemingly random thoughts twisted and turned back to which it began, with only an elbow to the guy who wrote the bad review in '01.

Nothing Is Wrong

I have read most of Jung's works, as well as those of his followers. I find a great amount of truth in his works, but I also think his work suffers a similar fate as that of people like Einstein and Darwin; no theory stands unchallenged forever. As a trailblazer Jung opened doors of inquiry. As an imperfect human being he made some mistakes. Those mistakes are being critiqued and analyzed by people with 100 years of learning on Jung. So parts of his work might be revised, others discarded, and totally new parts added. People who pick on Jung for being ethnocentric or chauvanistic fail to account for the time and culture he lived in (again 100 years of learning). I think this book has great value, because it questions Jung's theories, and that's scientific. But let's not go overboard and "tar and feather" the man. He truly was a pioneer in his field.

The Jungian Cult ?

I am still reading the book. However, it was the very title that drew my interest and why I sought out this book to read. I hope the author shares my need to seek answers to what for me is a painful question, "What Is Wrong With Jung". Watching my once honorable (former) husband's moral compass morph to zero while on his really long path to individuation and punctuated with Jungian jargon has been devastating. His Jungian therapist's PhD thesis was on the evolution of the male consciousness by way of a fairy tale. During the first 10 years and counting (15) of my husband's very expensive therapy, the Jungian therapist (as plaintiff) divorced twice, and advised my husband do the same. I have read dozens and dozens of books and articles on Jung and Jungian theory and therapy, attempting to understand the attributions to dreams, fantasies, archetypes, entitlement, first adulthood, second adulthood, introvert, extrovert, mythology, alchemy, the collective unconscious, astrology, art, and visions and more. I am hoping this book might, as much as it is possible, pull it all together for me. As of this writing, when I hear the words Jung or Jungian, I think svengali. I think cult.
(Four stars as I have not yet finished the book).

Ace the FTCE

The FTCE General knowledge test preparatory study guide book with practice test questions is filled with information and advice on every aspect of taking the test. It has a quick overview of the test, helpful test taking strategies, a section on Essays and Reading, English Language Skills, Mathematics, and the practice test questions in all three areas, as well as the answer section in the back with very in depth explanations of each question in every section. I find this book a very useful tool in the art of preparation of testing and I feel like you will too. I highly recommend this product as it is a very high quality, well written guide. Although I received this product at a substantial discount I absolutely would pay the full amount for this product.

Slap dash. Stay away.

I was leaning more towards "one star", but I am feeling generous. I purchased two books to help me study for the GK exam. I really really wish I'd reviewed the reviews on this book more closely. The reviews look more like bribes than true reviews - people offered a "discount" for their "unbiased" review. Were they given the book for a dollar? Because I guess, then, you wouldn't need to complain. I paid full price, and I was completely disappointed with this book, which seems to just be a random assortment of selections - likely from other resources. It was close to worthless. I tried and tried to find value in it, but it is a mess.

Also, I see now that there is only one other review that is a "verified purchased" review. Seriously, STAY AWAY from this book and choose a better option.

The other text I purchased was the Cliffs Notes guide. It actually presented material in response to the FTCE breakdown of content. I took the test today and only received my reading score today(which I passed), because the other sections of the test are being revised, but I was surprised at how easy the exam was, and the Cliffs Notes guide was sufficient to help me pass (and I only started studying for the exam three days ago, and I haven't done math, much, in the last 14 years).

As for the exam: the math questions, in particular, were completely reasonable - that said, maybe I was given an experimental, "completely reasonable" version of the exam. The reading section, however, seemed extremely strange, with questions that didn't properly reflect the reading materials. If I didn't get feedback about the reading exam, I think I'd be worried...

In any event, this book is not study friendly. The Cliffs Notes worked well for me, though perhaps my "flavor" of the exam will differ from yours. I also saw that someone claimed that this book doesn't have typos... Well, I was just flipping through it again and I see now that there is a typo on page 62, "etmology"... so there.

Anyway, there is a little star that says "Guaranteed to Raise Your Score", so maybe they respond to negative reviews by offering money back? In any event, I'd rather my review stay put. Read through the other reviews. They may say that they are unbiased, but I find that a little hard to believe. The Prep Team needs to consider a massive rehaul of this volume. It's awful.
