Easy for kids to read and grasp

My kids really like this book. The size makes it seem approachable, and the lessons are easily digestible for 14 year olds. The book concisely conveys key concepts like start early. My son said the book has helped him actually understand the financial concepts he was exposed to in school.

In contrast, my kids did not take to the Motley Fool book for teens. There is nothing wrong with the content, but the book did not grab them in the same way as the Pivnick book.

Awesome book

What can I say? If you struggle with math like I do, then this book is for you. I was more of a liberal arts, wordy kind of person in college. Frankly, numbers just didn't work for me. But wow! This explains things in such a relatable way - my 10 year olds really got into this. Awesome book - would recommend. Don't know anything about the writer, but knocked it out of the park in his first effort.

Good introduction to money and investing

Good book but pretty basic. I suppose that's what I should expect for an introductory book. It was too advanced for my 6-year old to read by himself (I found him in the middle of a self-motivated web search for "how to invest money" and he asked me to teach him how to invest). He does read at a sixth grade level but the material in the book was too much for him by himself. So, it's become a book that I read to him and then we talk about it. In this way the book provides a great framework to launch more conversation - so that's a GOOD thing!

The investing strategy presented is a very basic, generic approach - totally appropriate for an introductory book. The strategy basically suggests that, for nearly all investors, the only investing approach worthwhile is to invest in index mutual funds for the long term. The book very clearly states that stock picking is too risky and that trying to time the market doesn't work. The book does a good job of introducing the concept of risk and how it relates to expected return. It's a decent introductory book with some good basic information to whet the appetite of a youngster interested in money and investing.

Best for a young trendy mom to be

I bought this book because it looked modern and cute and after reading a few reviews stating there were a lot of check boxes and not a lot of space to write I thought it would be perfect for my second child. This book is cute but totally made for a young, trendy, first time mom. Not me. I laugh everytime I flip the page and it's more "valley girl" talk like "OMG, my OBGYN is...." It also gets very repetative asking the same "what's up" questions every week. Last, it's a book I hope to share with the baby someday and I think the questions about my sex life were unecessary. It's definately something different than the typical ones you see but thought my first Belly Book was a lot more realistic and down to earth (besides the excessive weekly pictures.) Haven't decided yet if I'll stick with it or start over with another. Actually I think I would be embarrased to share this in 15+ years and think I'll get another Belly Book. Nice book, but not what I wanted

I didn't do a ton of journaling with my first child and even though I am doing less with this pregnancy, this book just isn't right for me so I returned it shortly after purchase. It has very generic questions with very little room to answer in (mainly check boxes). There isn't space to write any thoughts/things that aren't part of their canned questions. Also, this goes by week and I prefer to write by month.

Best One I've Used Yet!

I've had two previous pregnancies and this is the best journal I have found yet! It is a nice and store-able size to save in a memory box for baby and the questions are both insightful for your future child to look back on, but in the moment very therapeutic for mommy. I've struggled with PPD with both pregnancies and this journal is comforting me in ways I never expected it would. Such a blessing and a must have for any first-time and multiple time momma!

Following teacher's orders, Gilbert, a fuzzy-looking woodland creature, inscribes Valentines for his classmates, devising "nice" rhymes for each. But his bonhomie disappears when he comes to Lewis, who tweaked Gilbert's nose, and Margaret, who teased him about his glasses. As the clever, kid-obliging title attests, Gilbert does not make nice on their cards; to escape the consequences, he signs Margaret's name to Lewis's Valentine and vice versa. Of course, when neither receives a card signed with Gilbert's name, the identity of the prankster is clear. In a predictable resolution to this sweet if minor tale, Gilbert does the right thing and composes friendly Valentines to the two, who apologize for having hurt his feelings. The winning touch here is de Groat's (Annie Pitts, Swamp Monster) characteristically buoyant watercolor art, which features an amiable crew of assorted animals, many festively clad in Valentine's Day-appropriate reds and pinks. Ages 5-up.

PreSchool-Grade 2—Gilbert is writing Valentine's Day poems for each of his classmates when he remembers that Lewis once tweaked his nose and that Margaret made fun of his glasses. So he writes hurtful rhymes and signs their names to the cards. On Valentine's Day Gilbert gets very friendly cards from everyone, but Lewis and Margaret are angry and call each other names. When they discover Gilbert's prank, no one sits with Gilbert at lunch or plays with him at recess. His friend Patty gives him a chance to explain and apologize. Likewise, Lewis and Margaret apologize for hurting his feelings. In class, Gilbert makes two new cards and writes two new poems and gives them to Lewis and Margaret. Jason Harris narrates Diane de Groat's gentle story (HarperCollins, 1996) and voices the male characters, while Peter Pamela Rose reads both Patty's and Margaret's parts. Careful pacing allows listeners to follow the story in the book; page-turn signals are optional. Subtle sound effects and music complement the narration. All the mathematics of BEM in your hand !

I have worked during my PhD on the french version of this book. I don't know another book giving such structured and complete approach to the mathematical theory of the Boundary Element Method. Almost all aspects are covered (it's something like an encyclopedia of BEM), even the most specialized ones, in a very clear and concise style. Due to this conciseness, I have had sometimes to go back and read again, but with a little effort, it's impressive that you feel to know everything about the subject !
