Sweet Story ....However a Bit Short

Having read a lot of great books....in my opinion these two could have easily made one novel and still would have been a short story. The first book appeared to end in the middle of a thought and if the second book had not been readily available I would have given them 2 maybe even 3 stars. I read both books in a few hours and it just appeared that something was missing. Maybe the books required more character development...or possibly the plot could have been explored a little further. Once I finished reading both books... It felt like something was missing. A great piece of work should leave you wanting to hear more about the characters and their lives, not lacking something. A great piece allows you to enter the story where you live through the characters and can feel what they feel. I have read several stories that spanned over 3 novels and immediately started over to read them again because I didn't want the story to end.....these did not do that for me....sorry. While it was a great story line, I could not picture any of the characters and certainly was not able empathize or feel anything here. These are the first books that I have read from this author....so I am willing to try some more of her works to see if it gets better.

Reads Like a Short Story-But Well Worth It!

Ashley, a would be novelist, is working for Anthony Lang, the world renown writer. He is ex-CIA but now blind, who seems to have a struggle within where the opposite sex is concerned. Anthony is falling in love with her but he struggles that he is not worthy of her because of his blindness. All the while, Ashley can’t understand why he would make wild passionate love to her and eight hours later fly off to Copenhagen for research without letting her know.

Ross weaves an exceptional storyline that creates an awesome appetizer to want to read more. With vivid hot sex scenes literally from page one, draws the reader in, wondering what will happen next. Short but sweet, book two reads more like a short story but is well worth the time.

An amazing story of love and devotion!

Oh my heavens! What an amazing love story, so heart wrenching and yet so tender and sweet! I could not hold back my tears - what if Anthony could recover his sight with an eye transplant? Or whatever medical breakthrough miracle? How wonderful this would be for Anthony and Ashley - I'd be sooo happy for them, a true to life fairy tale happily ever after! Sandra, I love all your books, no matter what genre. I can't find the continuing story of Erick, though. Could you please help me with this? Thanks.

Kindergarten-Grade 2—When the unnamed protagonist refuses to wear clothes because he doesn't like them, his parents spend the rest of the story trying to convince him why he needs them. Unpleasant but hilarious scenarios ensue describing what would happen if he went nude—no pockets for stuff, freezing in winter, the pain of stealing second base, etc. After considering all the arguments, the boy decides that if he must wear something, then he'll choose his own outfit, and off he goes dressed as a superhero, cape and all. This fun-to-read story is written in rhyming couplets. "If you went to school naked when the sun's overhead,/you would get a sunburn and turn very RED!/You might be confused with a big red tomato,/stewed in a pot with a russet potato!" The illustrations aptly depict each consequence, and the characters' expressions bring them to life. The pictures have a vaguely 1950s cartoon sensibility both in style and color choice, which works well with the text. This one's great for storytime or one-on-one sharing. I saw this book in a school library. I read it and couldn't stop laughing. It's a cute story about a boy who goes to school...well you know.

Plenty of Giggles

Told in a rhyming fashion, this adorable book follows the parents reasoning as to why their son has to wear clothing to school. All the reasons are quite plausible, but their son is not quite sure.

All they want him to do is to consider the consequences, well, that is a mighty big task for a little boy, but that night has he sleeps he lets their tales roll around in his head like a big pot of soup.

As morning dawns, the little boy has come up with the perfect solution. It might not be ideal is all public situations, but for now it will work and the little boy is quite please with himself for coming up with the idea.

I am sure that all parents have had to deal with this while raising their children. It is a cute story that will surely have both the reader and the listener giggling together and coming up with their own consequences.

This would be a fun addition to a child's library.

"I must wear clothes? That's what you say? I don't LIKE clothes! I say--NO WAY!"

This is a very cute and silly book. I also have a little one, who likes running around the house in as little clothes as possible, so it was quite nice to be able to read this book together. She liked the silly things that could happen to you if you go to school naked, and we both laughed our way through the book. It's a quite a good book!

Never boring or drawn out and full of information

This book I found was excellent in Humanities. Published just for Valencia College in Florida the chapters were concise and full of information. The chapters were never drawn out and each page was full of useful information. It lead directly into each chapter covering many aspects of Greek, Rome and the Renaissance. I would highly recommend that this is the text that should be used on Intro into Humanities.

Catalogue of misconceptions about ancient and mathematical astronomy

This was a most disappointing purchase. In particular, the authors have absolutely no understanding of ancient astronomy, aka mathematical astronomy, which is now recognized as including Coperniucs (he has described as "Ptolemy's best disciple") and they continually make false statements about the development of astronomy before Newton. It is difficult to believe that academics would have so little understanding of such a well known subject. The book is only useful as a catalogue of misconceptions about mathematical astronomy.

Good Primer for Celestial Mechanics

I had always been curious about how and why things worked in our solar system. This book did a good job of answering my questions. As stated in the product description, only "elementary mathematics" are employed, but the instances of math usage are for illustrative purposes only, and are NOT essential for understanding the material presented. In fact - in my opinion - getting value from this book requires no practical application of mathematics on the part of the reader at all. However, I did find the text to be quite technical (as expected), and a basic understanding of astronomical terms and concepts is necessary in order to grasp the material. (Example glossary term: "Resonance: A commensurability among the periods of motion of two or more celestial bodies. The most common resonances are the mean motion resonances, which involve the revolution periods of different celestial bodies, and the spin-orbit resonances between the revolution and the rotation periods of the same celestial body.") I give it five stars for telling me what I wanted to know. This is not only a good beginner's book for someone who is interested in a further study of celestial mechanics, but it would also provide useful information for a beginning astronomer as well.

Quick overview of recent developments

Celestial mechanics studies the motion of bodies (stars, planets, satellites, etc.) under gravity. This book provides a quick overview of the subject, focusing especially on recent developments. The book presumes some knowledge of astronomy, but it's suitable for any amateur astronomer. (It contains virtually no math.) My primary objection to this book is that it doesn't explain many of the phenomena that it mentions. The book includes both a glossary that defines jargon and a guide to further information.

Ch. 2: chaotic orbits and the multi-body problem
Ch. 3: orbital resonances: their role in the motions of moons and asteroids, and their exploitation by interplanetary probes
Ch. 4: spin-orbit resonances: tidal forces; synchronous resonance; geosynchronous satellites; obliquity; precession and its exploitation in archaeoastronomy
Ch. 5: stability of the solar system; paths of comets, meteorites, and asteroids
Ch. 6: danger of asteroids colliding with the Earth
Ch. 7: motions of the moon; eclipses; the moon's role in the creation of life; novel trajectories to the moon
Ch. 8: spacecraft flight: "halo" orbits; space debris around Earth; interplanetary trajectories (Hohmann transfer orbits, gravity assists)

He discerns a general trend away from the Marxist rhetoric that has often characterized the movement in the past and towards the kind of grassroots populist reform typified by the Basic Christian Communities Movement.

Sigmund sees liberation theology as making positive changes: moving away from Marxist thought and toward a grounding in biblical reflection and interest in democratic processes. His argument is best supported by his analysis of Gustavo Gutierrez but only vaguely supported elsewhere. Still, the book is worthwhile because it is a clearly written historical review of the liberation theology movement and its influence in Latin America. Sigmund's analysis is sophisticated, and though he sympathizes with liberation theologians he takes no sides. He discerns the sound and unsound arguments in the works of the theologians, their American supporters, and their critics. Recommended for seminary and religious studies collections.
