Chapters are clearly written with colour, texture of type and shading identifying key points. They also make ample use of tables and line drawings which reproduce with excellent quality...a valuable tool for any practitioner managing patients recieving this form of support. Decent introduction to CRRT

This is a great introductory text about CRRT. It is appropriate for nephrology fellows, nephrologists, intensivists who perform CRRT or want to learn about the basics behind it, as well as for ICU or nephrology nurses.
Pros:
This is really the only CRRT textbook out there, at least that I'm aware of (not counting the $100 Dialysis books).
It is a very practical handbook.
It has a lot of pictures and diagrams, which I have used when teaching residents about CRRT. It explains the different modalities of CRRT very well (CVVH, CVVHD, CVVHDF, SLED, SCUF etc).
It has a chapter about how to start a CRRT program that might be very helpful to physicians wanting to do that.
It has chapters about citrate versus heparin anticoagulation, and troubleshooting the CRRT machine (e.g. what does an elevated arterial/venous/TMP pressure mean etc).
Cons:
The book gets very repetitive; since different authors wrote the chapters, the same information is provided multiple times.
The book is overpriced for what you get, but comparable in price to other medical textbooks.
It has no significant discussion of the important clinical studies in renal replacement therapy in the ICU. I expected a more detailed discussion about timing of initiation, dose of CRRT etc.
More information about drug dosing in CRRT would also improve this book, but then there are not a lot of data out there about this.
Would I buy it again? Yes, definitely.

Concise and well-written

This is a concise yet detailed review of CRRT. It has a nice historical introduction that I found very interesting. Of course the selling point of this book is the very solid physiology overview that precedes the treatment-specific chapters. In other words, this isn't just a how-to-CRRT book, it's an evidence based collection of studies and guidelines/recommendations.. I highly recommend this book which I just finished (and spilled coffee on page 42!)to nephrology fellows and staff. It is probably to detailed for medical students and residents unless they're specifically interested in nephrology!

I think this book is describing the CRRT modalities and the way to implement them.
It describes the dialysis prescribtions, complications, timings, indications and all pertaining information.
It also gives a hint about the Antibiotic dosing adjustment during CRRT.
Its a good one.
